Overnight train SMENA - A. BETANCOURT
This comfortable train 025/026 “SMENA – A.BETANCOURT” occupies a special place among Russian trains on the rout Moscow-St.Petersburg-Moscow. This train is served for more than 20 years by the students of St.Petersburg University of Railway Transport. That is why in 1984 it was named "Smena" translating from Russian as "successors" (the rising generation).
In 2009 according to the 200th Anniversary of the University of Railway Transport the train was named by the founder of the University and it's first chancellor - Spanish engineer Augustin de Betancourt.
Nowadays the train consists of 13 - 15 cariages : 1 carriage of 1st class (with compartments for 2 persons), 11 - 13 carriages of 2nd class (with compartments for 4 persons) and 1 carriage-restaurant.
