| During this guided tour (with or without transfer) you will see the world’s largest museum of Russian art and you will be shown around its main rooms and halls. The bulk of the museum’s exhibits are works of Russian art from the Hermitage, the Academy of Arts and the royal suburb residences as well as some other acquisitions and donations. After the revolution of 1917, its stocks were considerably increased due to the nationalization of many private collections. Today the Russian Museum collection estimates over 320,000 objects, illustrating the development of Russian art from the 11th century up to the present. Besides pictures of Russian and Soviet paintings it also possesses one of the finest collections of sculpture, graphic art and works of applied, decorative & folk art. |
