Peter and Paul's Fortress | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
While this guided tour (with or without transfer) you will be shown around the first building of St. Petersburg - Peter-and-Paul Fortress. Its corner-stone was laid by the emperor Peter the Great himself. That is why its image often appears as a symbol of the city. As to say the history of St. Petersburg started from this place. You will visit Peter and Paul's Cathedral that is located on the territory of the fortress and is the final resting place of many tsars (the last of them was Nicholas II who was re-buried there together with his family). And you will also see the grim cells of the former political prison which used to be a kind of “Russian Bastilles” during the tsarist regime. And, of course, you will be told different stories about its famous prisoners. |
