Ivan VI (1740 -1741)


        In the initial years of her reign, Anna summoned to court her niece Anna Leopoldovna, the wife of Prince Anton Ulrich and the mother of Ivan VI (born on August 12, 1740), whom Anna bequeathed her crown on October 5 and appointed her favourite Biron regent. After Biron was arrested and sent to Siberia on November 9, Anna Leopoldovna - the child Emperor's mother – became regent, but in 2 weeks on November 25, 1741, the Empress was overthrown by the Imperial Guard led by Elizabeth, daughter of Peter the Great and the reign of Ivan VI and Anna Leopoldovna, lasting only for twelve months and sixteen days, was quitted.
